Clear, well-lit photos print the best — a photo taken in good daylight or bright indoor light will generally look sharper and truer to color than one taken in a dim room. A clear subject that isn't too far away or too small in the frame also tends to hold up better once it's printed small.
The bigger and sharper your original photo, the crisper the print. Photos straight from a phone or camera almost always work great — the numbers below are modest on purpose. Be cautious with images pulled from text messages, social media, or screenshots, since those are often compressed and can look a little soft once printed, especially at larger sizes. While you're cropping a photo, we'll flag it right in the editor if it dips below the recommended resolution for the area you've selected.

Photo Puzzle Magnets
These apply to the whole photo you upload, before it's split into pieces — since splitting divides the resolution evenly, meeting this covers every individual piece too.

JPG, PNG, HEIC, and other standard image formats all work. Non-image files, like PDFs or documents, aren't accepted.
While cropping your photo, you'll see a dashed line — that marks the edge of what actually gets printed and trimmed. Keep faces and anything important inside that line, since anything beyond it wraps around the edge of the finished magnet.
Since a puzzle photo gets split into pieces, a simple photo with one clear subject holds up best — a busy or cluttered photo can be harder to read once it's all pieced back together. Faces, pets, and single-subject shots tend to work especially well.
