We're a family of photo hoarders, led by a retired engineer and proud grandfather of five.
Our daughters are like most parents today: their phones are full of thousands of photos, but a lot of the little moments — the birthday cake, the beach trip, the ordinary afternoon in the backyard — mostly just stay there. Never printed, never really seen again.
We noticed it in our own family before we noticed it anywhere else. All those photos, and nowhere to actually put them — nothing to hang up, nothing easy to give as a gift.
After retiring, we wanted something to fill the time with — not just to stay busy, but something that felt worth building. A podcast we came across introduced us to someone who'd built a business doing something similar, and hearing her encourage others to go try it themselves gave us the push we needed to actually do it.
So Magnet Stars started with a simple idea: turn the photos already sitting on someone's phone into something they can actually see every day. On the fridge. In an office. Wherever it makes someone smile. Something worth printing. Something worth giving.
We still think about our own family every time we build something new here. If this makes it a little easier for our daughters — or yours — to finally get those photos off the phone and into the room, it's doing exactly what we built it to do.
